Tampere Peace Perspectives 2017 is a student conference on the broad themes of peace and conflict, organised now for the third time. The conference brings together students from diverse academic backgrounds, with keynote speeches by professionals in Peace and Conflict research and practice. Students are also given an opportunity to present and discuss their research in front of a larger audience.

The conference will be held on Friday 17th February from 9.15 on at the University of Tampere. It is jointly organised by the student associations TIPSY, Iltakoulu and Interaktio.

Keynote speakers

Wendy Kroeker, Instructor in Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies, Canadian Mennonite University in Canada.
Wendy specializes in community conflict transformation processes and has over 15 years of experience as a community mediator, conflict transformation trainer, peace program consultant, program manager for international development projects and university instructor.

Maria Mekri, Executive Director, SaferGlobe.
Maria's specific interest is in creating sustainable, practical solutions for improving security and peacefulness in complex crisis situations. She is currently the Conceptual Framework Manager of the IECEU-project that increases the effectiveness of European Union Crisis Management. She also has more than 20 years of academic experience in International Relations.
